Special Summer Reading

6/18/2014

Hello  my lovelies,

I've been reading, along with writing, these days and I must share some gems with you. Some folks call them "beach reads" ,  others brush them aside as not "serious" literature;  I however love the books that grab me, hold me to the end, and get there in a quick, entertaining manner.

The first is an adorable book named "Fifty Shades of Greyhound" (Nook or Kindle). I know, I love the title. It is the fifth book in a darling series entitled the Pampered Pets Mysteries.  They are written in Des Moines, Iowa, by Sparkle Abby, a writing team who love and adore their pets and a cute mystery at the same time. The heroines are cousins, and each cousin is featured in her own books, but the five books interweave. You can start anywhere in the series, but I'd start with number one,  to get all the story of the cousins in your mind.

The next great read of the summer is The "Thorns of Rosewood", by GM Barleen (Nook or Kindle). Another great book, total different. It's  about a missing person, suspected murderers and little old ladies waiting for God in a nursing home and a nosy reporter with her own agenda as she searches for a murderer from forty years ago.

The final book is one of my own, one I think you'll love for quick reading this summer. Title? "Dark Side of Paradise" (Nook or Kindle). It's set in Hawaii. Great place to be solving a mystery while falling in love. The story came straight out of the newspapers. Missing money, embezzlement schemes and lover's triangle scandals; what more could you want in a summer story?

Just wanted to give a head's up - my new book, All A Lady Wants, is coming out in January, 2014. It will be available for purchase at Amazon and at Awestruck Books.

Lady Sarah Evanston wants to reclaim her life after losing both parents in quick succession. Mourning them has kept her from society.  Now she must find a suitable husband or risk being  a spinster and living the rest of her life alone. She has promised herself she will reopen her family home and live there on her own,  rather than marry someone she does not truly love.  She risks becoming a social outcast, finding neither husband nor happiness.

Lord Reginald Guilworth, the Marquis of Ellswarren is feeling family pressure to assume responsibility, marry and produce an heir to the Guilworth fortune. He contemplates a marriage of convenience to shield himself from being hurt by love, again. He has a bevy from which to pick, but none that interests him.

Sarah and Reggie have been close family friends since her childhood. Sarah has always adored him, yet he has never taken notice of her. She has resolved to move forward, giving up her childhood dream of becoming the next Duchess of Guilworth.

Reggie's cousins, members of the exiled French aristocracy, come to stay with the Guilworth family, embroiling them all in international intrigue involving the teetering French government and upheaval of the aristocratic class of France.  Among the political chaos and the horrific year of natural disasters, Reggie and Sarah are drawn together and realize they do share an abiding love for one another.

But events conspire to tear them apart, with deadly consequences for all those involved, threatening their end their happiness almost before it begins.

You may notice some duplicate entries on my new pages. It's me playing around, learning how to navigate this new world.  I'm not quite flying blind; my dear friend Jeannie, is sitting beside me, encouraging me to jump out of my comfy nest and fly. Thankfully,  I'm not too far off the ground as yet. Things will get better.
